Driver History
Antonio Pizzonia's two largely undistinguished seasons in F3000
didn't look like netting him anything more than the Williams test
driver role he shared with Marc Gene in 2002.
The driver nicknamed 'Jungle Boy' because he comes from the Amazon
region of Brazil was pushed hard by Frank Williams and Patrick Head
and so Niki Lauda tested him for Jaguar at Silverstone.
On a circuit he knew well, Pizzonia was straight away as quick
as current driver Pedro de la Rosa and Lauda reasoned that there
was clearly more to come. He will join Mark Webber for 2003 in a
team whose drivers have a total of 17 GP starts between them. Even
Minardi have more combined experience than that.
